Appalachian Spring Photography Contest Sponsored by Ball Photo of Asheville. 12th Annual Photography Contest at the Cradle of Forestry Spring in the Appalachian Mountains.

Contest Rules:

Entry fee: none

Subject: Spring in the Appalachian Mountains

Size and Medium: color print, no smaller than 8" x 10" which has been matted, mounted, and/or framed so that it can be hung. The photos must have been taken by entrant. The title of the photograph, the photographer's name, address, and phone number must appear on the back of the mount or mat. A title may appear on the front of the entry, but the photographer's name must not appear on the front.

Number of entries: maximum of two prints per entrant. An entry form (below) is required for each entrant.

Submit entries to: The Forest Place, 100 S. Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712, (828) 884-5713 ext. 11 or 16, Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Photos that need to be delivered to the Cradle of Forestry are by special arrangement only by calling (828) 884-5713 ext. 16.

Criteria for Judging: Appalachian spring theme, technique, interest, value, and composition.

Awards: There will be five ribbons awarded for 1st - 5th place and a number of honorable mention ribbons will be given out. Ball Photo of Asheville will be giving gift certificates for 1st place - $100.00 gift certificate for merchandise, 2nd place - $50.00 gift certificate for merchandise and 3rd place - $25.00 gift certificate for merchandise. Ball Photo will also award one free roll of film to all top finishers. Each entrant into the photo contest will receive a 50% discount off of developing at Ball Photo. Drawings will be made from all entries for the book Southern National Forests, family passes to the Cradle of Forestry and other gifts.

All participants will be given 2 free passes for a one-time entrance to the Cradle of Forestry while the photos are on display.

Entry forms can be picked up at Ball Photo at the Innsbruck Mall on Tunnel Rd in the same parking lot as Big Lots or at the Forest Place in downtown Brevard. You may also call 828-884-5713 ext. 16 and have one mailed to you or email tammy_cfaia@citcom.net to get an entry form emailed to you.

All entries are the property of the photographer. All color prints will be displayed at the Cradle of Forestry through the month of May. Prints may be picked up at The Forest Place or the Cradle of Forestry starting June 6, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
